Ten finalists named for Mr. Football 2025

The Elite Ten finalists for the 2025 Mr. Football Award have been announced by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA).

The Mr. Football Award is sponsored by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) and the Minnesota Vikings.

The Mr. Football Award was first presented in 2004, with the first winner being Nick Mertens of East Grand Forks High School. The 2024 Mr. Football Award winner was Camden Hungerholt of LeRoy-Ostrander/Lyle-Pacelli.

The 2025 Mr. Football Award will be presented at the Mr. Football Banquet on Sunday, December 7 (9:00 AM) at the Doubletree by Hilton Minneapolis Park Place Hotel (hotel address: 1500 Park Place Blvd., Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55416).

Roman Voss looks to lead Jackson County Central back to the Prep Bowl. The Gopher commit was injured during last year’s title run.
Maple Grove’s James Engle rushed for 1,854 yards and 27 touchdowns for the Crimson.

Cretin-Derham Hall’s Izaak Johnson led the state in completions (202) and yards (3,305) and also threw 38 touchdowns.
Forest Lake’s Howie Johnson (92) has been a menace by chasing down opponents during his career. Johnson is committed to the Gophers.
Minneapolis North QB Logan Lachermeier leads the state with 42 touchdown passes.
Minnetonka’s Caleb Francois looks to lead the Skippers back to the Prep Bowl. He has rushed for 1,800 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Hills-Beaver Creek’s Micah Bush is a dual threat as a receiver and defensive back. The Patriots advanced to the state semi-finals against Fertile-Beltrami who defeated the Patriots in the Prep Bowl last season.
Carson Heimer rushed for more than 1,300 yards and 18 touchdowns and is also an outstanding defensive back for Byron.

Mr. Football Award Criteria:

  • The nominee must be a graduating senior.
  • Nominee’s Head Coach must be a current member of the MFCA.
  • Nominee must not have any MSHSL violations.
  • Each player must be nominated by their Sub-District/MFCA representative, after being selected by the coaches in each Sub-district.
