51 high schools in Minnesota competed in Girls Flag Football in its inaugural season, 12 of these teams would advance to the state tournament at TCO Performance Center. Episode 2 of Planting the Flag looks back on the season highlighting the trailblazers who helped grow the game. We visit with North Saint Paul head coach, Carrie Boche, learning that success of a new sport doesn’t always show up on the scoreboard. And we experience the state tournament, a resounding victory lap for Girls Flag Football as a whole and the champion Mahtomedi Zephyrs. These girls can play, and they’re doing it with a smile on their faces.
