Jackson County Central returns to Prep Bowl after 38-0 win

Voss has hand in 6 TDs for Huskies

Last season Jackson County Central won the Class AA state title without the No. 1 recruit in the state. This year they have a healthy Roman Voss and are one game away from repeating the feat.

The Huskies defeated Eden Valley-Watkins 38-0 Friday to advance to the Prep Bowl where they will take on the winner of Goodhue and Holdingford.

Voss, a Mr. Football finalist and a Minnesota Gopher commit, scored four rushing touchdowns and threw for two more to lead the Huskies to their 48th win in their last 50 games.

The Huskies led 12-0 after the first quarter on TD runs of 13 and six yards by Voss. They scored the remainder of their points in the second quarter as both teams were scoreless in the second half. They dominated in all facets of the game and simply overmatched Eden Valley-Watkins, who came into the contest at 9-2.

Voss connected with Gage Johnson on a 44-yard score and with Evan Bartholomaus form 18 yards out to cap the scoring.

The Huskies defense held EV-W to just 73 yards rushing and 56 yards passing.

Isaac Haseback caught five passes for 42 yards and Ben Gallagher caught six passes for 22 yards. Voss connected with seven different receivers on the day.

Maxwell Torborg and Devin Swanson each had 10 tackles for Eden Valley-Watkins.

Jackson County Central will play for the Class 2A Prep Bowl Friday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m.
